One of the largest parishes and the third most populous in the council, notable for its volume of milk production and agricultural mechanization. Historically, in the 18th century, in the hamlet of Penadauga there was a monthly fair where what most stood out was the sale of livestock.
In artistic terms, the church is worthy of note because it still maintains its original Romanesque door construction and tympanum (12th century) It is integrated into the Romanesque Route. The Shrine of Santa Sabela with its famous pilgrimage, where warts and other diseases are healed, has been a place of worship since prehistoric times and obligatory stop for those who have made a pledge. The Pazo de Cascaxide, near the fort of the same name, which was home to the Espinosa family (17th century) and forming a beautiful arrangement with tower, chapel and transept, is the most striking in the council. As for its natural heritage the Férveda waterfall which is located in the hamlet of the same and Cascaxide Forest, declared a protected site, are well worth a visit. |
