Silleda entered into the history books during the Swabian period in the 6th century. According to the "Lucenses Scriptures” The Lugo assembly held in the year 569, and governing as bishop Nitigio Teodomiro, agreed to a new partition of the diocese into that of one divided into counties. By this agreement the county of Deza was constituted comprising the lands of Deza, Trasdeza, Carbia and Dozón.
